The Making of The Kepler Tour
The Kepler Tour is a series I did with a crew of people that takes the viewer on a journey through time and space. The original series is 10 darkroom prints that starts with the journey to Kepler and the events on the planet. I spent a little more than 5 weeks on the project including 8 or more hour days in the darkroom. The astronaut suit and door took two weeks to build and were built relatively out of scratch and a lot of spray paint. With the help of my crew: David Gomolka, Journey Tyler, Adriana Montes, and the contributions from my parents, I was able to bring this story to life.
Creating Outer Space
The trickiest part of the series was making outer space look real along with our space ship. I decided early on that I only wanted to use technology available during the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I wanted it to look like Star Wars or 2001 which mean no heavy photoshop or digital technology, mostly film and darkroom tricks.
